driveTime

and you thought your life involved crazed levels of multitasking. This guy, Ravi Jain, is shooting a weekly video blog from the driver’s seat of his car during his daily commutes between Jamaica Plains and Allston, MA (a.k.a. “five hours of ’studio time’”). He has guests on (who are bumming rides), and when his wife commutes with him, they do a “Regis and Kelly” type show (or at least that’s how Ravi fancies it), with some “marital banter to start the show” (oh joy!).

spent a most wonderful weekend w/ ranger-danger. it’s just so wow that we are ever on the same page. and things are starting to get serious… in a meeting the family, planning for the holidays, cooking for him and starting to want him with me always cuz life is short kind of way. went shopping together…. the body shop, dillards (omg…… i got the hottest bcbg mary jane’s which i am wearing right now and was able to monetarily justify due to a: their hottness and b: i haven’t bought any shoes in over 6 mos!!) we both invested in new fragrances (he likes chanel, too!!) he “made” me enter the lindt store (eyes still in rolled back position due to decadence induced coma). after which we saw a movie which was followed by sushi. he even bought me a ‘bushisms’ calendar?? i do sooooooo love this guy!! we quite spontaneously asked eachother what was it exactly was it about the other person that drew us in….. (the scary part!).. turns out.. not so scary in his eyes… which made me almost cry over my miso soup.

Bush speechalist mockumentary

October 27, 2005 · 1 Comment

This mockumentary about GW Bush’s “Presidential Speechalist” is a real hoot.

From the video:
“You have to understand one thing about the American people. They are not interested in a politician that speaks smoothly or insists on using ‘real words.’”

stanford on iTunes

wow! Stanford is providing university-related audio content via the iTunes Music Store. ‘Stanford on iTunes’ which includes free content available to the general public.

just think how cool it would have been to get your 8 am class lectures from the comfort and warmth of your bed rather than draggin’ your sorry hung over butt to class. of course, then we’d miss out on seeing that cute guy who sits 2 rows back……..

there’s always a trade off when technology’s involved!

you know…….i’ve noticed that since i’ve added tivo to my life….. that i’ve become very dependent on it. i no longer care about what day it is (ie., panic! is it thursday already?? i can’t miss ‘will & grace’!!) because tivo’s taking care of that for me. also.. i can DO stuff during a show without missing a beat……and actually SAVING time in the end due to tivo’s renowned ‘pause’ feature.. which subsequently allows me to speeeed thru the plethora of annoying commercials. you never really realize just how MANY commercials there are until you don’t have to watch them all – when you’re used to NOT. really. it’s like we’ve all become anesthetized victims of this capitalist sales-driven culture… comfortably numb in our favorite chair or spot on the couch… while they spew message after message telling us to buy buy buy.. creating need after needless need. i’ve also noticed that i tend to watch tv a bit more passively these days…… not always paying COMPLETE attention to every word jon stewart utters because if i miss something that seems important or funny on the back side due to uncontrollable mind-wandering.. it’s OK……i can always re-wind. unfortunately.. that lack of complete 100% attentiveness has also creeped into my radio listening…… which sux because i have a habit of catching the second half of something really interesting and desperately wanting to reach for my trusty, dependable tivo remote to hear the good part! DOH! and so.. in conclusion.. while i love my tivo……. i am pretty sure it’s not helping any ADD tendencies i may have goin’ on here ;)
