September 28, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream unveiled its new anti-war media campaign dubbed, “Federal Budget Priorities Campaign”.

The popular left-wing frozen confection says that they want to help Americans decided for themselves how to more equitably slice the proverbial pie. The goal is to heighten awareness of the money the Pentagon spends on nuclear weapons vs. a shortfall of spending on basic unmet needs of children…

you’re definitely a geek if………

September 27, 2007 · Leave a Comment

just some thoughts on the culture of being ‘geek’.. as it relates to me:
[doesn't it ALWAYS relate to ME - rofl!]

* you MUCH prefer dating other geeks…

* solutions to work problems (coding dilemmas) magically pop into your head while you’re in the shower, or lying in bed or …. yeah.

* your friends and family learn about your life from your blog

* you point out design flaws and bugs in the POS system to the cashier…

* many of your very close friends are people you’ve worked with (other geeks… you’ve experienced various levels of ‘extreme’ pressure with)

* you’ve written a program in a different language just to prove you could

* you can quote a KB article, but have no idea who won the last ‘american idol’

* you type 70 words per minute – and – only you can read your handwriting

* your family doesn’t have a clue what you do at work.. and they’ve stopped trying to understand

* the vast majority of the t-shirts and backpacks you own were free

* you admit to having been a bit of a tech-schwag-’ho at a conference here and there (btw… sometimes boobs and a card swipe don’t always get you the desk toy you wanted! – ‘the blue whale’ – haha)

* you actually look for confirmation that you’re a geek through things like a ‘Geek Test’
